Park Rangers step up presence during 4th of July festivities | News
CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO)- If you go down to the lakefront this holiday, you'll notice a greater law enforcement presence--even a city prosecutor to handle complaints filed by park rangers.
This marks the first July 4th since the Metroparks took over the lakefront parks including Edgewater.
Rangers have prepared for crowds and any possible trouble by setting up extra patrols and even a prosecutor on scene. The prosecutor can decide on charges in cases there instead of having everyone taken to jail with the cases decided later.
There haven't been major incidents during holiday celebrations in the past, but there have been very large crowds at the lakefront.
Rangers will be looking for things including open containers of alcohol, indecency or rowdiness.
The rangers will be on foot, in cars, on horseback and on bikes.
